As of October 14th, 5th graders have been learning about Picasso and the style of art called "cubism". We are drawing 3 different views of a shoe (previously coffee mugs), and then we combine the views into a single image. To further break up the image into smaller spaces, we will add 7 tangent lines in the drawing. The final step will be to shade in all the spaces.
Starting today, we are taking a break from our cubism project to create 2 projects in one day, which are much less extensive than the cubism project. We start off with a simple cup, with help from a nice animation at: origamiplayer.com, then move on to a more complex animated eye. The link for the eye project is here: krokotak.com. Welcome to the NEW elementary Oxford Arts blog format! Stay tuned, and hopefully we will find this a much more interactive format!
