The coil pot is built using the hand-building process of rolling out long "snakes" of clay and coiling the snakes into a mold. The clay pieces are bisque fired, then glazed and fired again. Students observed how, for many generations, Native Americans in New Mexico make coil pots, respectfully finding and using materials directly from the Earth.
