Second graders got reacquainted with the color wheel and color theory, but first we learned a little about the artist, Wassily Kandinsky, who made abstract paintings with various kinds of line. Once students drew different kinds of lines (including vertical, diagonal, and horizontal lines), they started painting with watercolors. Students were directed to paint using color theory, with either analogous or complementary colors adjacent to each other.
